Echo Shadows

“Echo Shadows” is an immersive light installation that transforms live music into a visual display. As participants stand in front of the light fixtures, the beats and rhythms are translated into vibrant color changes on the surface, casting dynamic and colored shadows that shift with the music. Through this fusion of sound, light, and shadow, Echo Shadows makes tangible the connection between musical rhythms and visual changes, offering visitors a unique sensory experience as they become part of the evolving dance of light and shadow, engaging audiences as they immerse in silhouettes shaped by the rhythm and themselves.

About the artist: Yinglian is a lighting technician, an aspiring lighting designer, lighting artist, and a creative technologist. She was born and raised in China and am now based in New York City. Yinglian graduated from the New York City College of Technology with a Bachelor of Technology in Entertainment Technology in May 2023. Her studies were rooted in stage lighting and show control systems, but also ventured into the fascinating world of physical computing. Yinglian creates live audiovisual performance systems, and interactive or reactive toys using lights, sound, and sensors. She is exploring how to use my skill set in lighting and creative coding tools to design innovative light installations, applying them across stages and public spaces.
